On the Rocks

Growing between the rocks in our garden are Panicled Aster, our featured flower of the month. The panicled aster is native to a broad range across North America, from Canada to the United States. Its natural habitat includes a variety of moist, open environments such as meadows, stream banks, ditches, and the edges of woodlands. It thrives in disturbed areas and can form dense colonies by spreading through underground rhizomes. This species is an important late-season food source for pollinators like bees and butterflies. Historically, some Native American tribes, like the Mohawk, used this plant for medicinal purposes, such as treating fever. Cheers
