Fall Flowers

Our featured flower for the fall season is Lantana. The genus Lantana is a group of about 150 species of flowering plants, most famously the widely cultivated Lantana camara. These plants are native to the tropical regions of the Americas and Africa. They were introduced worldwide as ornamental plants, particularly in the 1700s when they became highly desired in European markets and were bred into numerous cultivars.

For cultivation, lantana is favored for its tolerance to heat, drought, and poor soils, as well as its long season of vibrant, multi-colored flowers that attract butterflies and hummingbirds. It thrives in full sun (at least 6-8 hours a day) and well-draining soil, often preferring slightly acidic conditions. Cheers
